March 7, 2008 Weekly Share - SDTJDPH

I'm testing out the idea of creating a weekly newsletter that I post to SD/TJ Design, Plant, Harvest. The newsletter will have sections that I will email out separately to several email lists. I'll need volunteers to help keep this going by contributing and also to help post if I'm not near a computer that week. I have started a separate blog to be used for contributing to the newsletter and preparing the weekly newsletter. Basically, email your contributions to sdtjdph.wrap at blogger.com, following the format I've used below. The newsletter has its own feed, and you also can subscribe to it by email. If any errors are discovered after posting, they will be corrected in the version at SDTJDPH.

How to contribute to the weekly newsletter

To contribute, post here by sending an email to sdtjdph.share at blogger.com. (If we get spam, this email will change.)

Your posts should be an item (or a list of items) in this form: [Location] | [Type] | [Category] | [Descriptive Title which is a link to more information].

You can also contribute by tagging a link in del.icio.us with "sdtjdphshare", using the formatting below in the description field.

Here are some examples:
For more examples:
  • look at posts to this blog,
  • see a published weekly newsletter, or
  • check the tag at del.icio.us.
The idea here is that if I don't get around to compiling the weekly updates for whatever reason, it will be easy for another sdtjdph contributor to take over: they just have to check both here and the del.icio.us tag for new posts, and compile them.

If you take on that role, here are guidelines for formatting the weekly newsletter post [yet to be written].
